Our first several years were mostly onsite at the new Drive/Magna International plant in Piedmont, SC which at the time was one of the first Tier 1 suppliers lured to our area by the recently opened BMW plant in Greer.  Successful completion of several large scale projects solidified J&J Services as a trustworthy and dependable supplier and we ended up staying onsite at Drive for almost 5 years performing millwright and fabrication work for multiple expansions the plant experienced in the first several years of being here.

In 1997, Bill bought a piece of land adjacent to the Drive plant and built his own shop to continue to support Drive Automotive and his growing business. The new shop allowed us to do all the labor-intensive and complicated fabrication work in own facility.  It wasn’t long before other opportunities presented themselves at several new companies that began to locate in the area to serve BMW and other Tier 1 suppliers.  Soon after, J&J Services had multiple crews which totaled over 100 skilled craftsmen and technicians that resided onsite at several companies in the area, including BMW, to perform whatever skilled tasks that particular company needed. This led to part sorting, rework and quality inspections for inbound automotive parts from all over the world. The technicians could do it on-site or the company could have them diverted to the new shop for isolation and remediation, if possible.

The business started to diversify drastically, and in 2004 we bought our very first 5-axis laser machine.  A 170-ton press-brake and a shear were also added.  The addition of this equipment allowed us to have more control over costs, lead-times and quality.  Also, in 2004 we achieved ISO 9001 certification and have maintained it since.  Our business continued to grow and in 2006 we installed our second 5-axis laser.  We added a 6ft, 60-ton press-brake in 2013.

Over the years we have continued to add equipment to increase our capabilities to better serve our customers.  And in 2017, we replaced our first 5-axis laser with a brand new state-of-the-art Trumpf 4kw Fiber TruLaser 3030.  This laser offers the latest and greatest technological advancements in laser processing and is the fastest and most energy efficient in the metal fabrication industry.  Trumpf is the world leader in metal fabricating equipment and known for dependable service and reliability and we are proud to use it in our shop to produce high-quality metal parts and fabrications.

From those early years until now, J&J Services has been instrumental in helping to grow the Upstate’s burgeoning automotive industry and has evolved into a precision metal fabrication company that now provides its services to companies in SC, NC, GA and throughout the southeast.  We have grown alongside our customers and have earned a solid reputation as a leader in precision metal fabrication with a strong customer focus and exceptional quality standards.  We are grateful for the growth our customers have afforded us and we look forward to working with them in the years to come.
